Message From The President
By David Willis Jr.
Brother and Sisters first, let me apologize for the delay in getting the newsletter out. We wanted to wait until after the State Convention to send it out. We went with our eight Delegates as well as five additional members. We made a great showing at the opening ceremony with the largest representation from one department in uniform. I might add that we were the center of attention in the hospitality room thanks to Brothers Pecha, Burbuela, Scharf and Gornicki. The issue of two-year terms for officers and a State Convention being held every other year, which I spoke about at our June meeting, was voted down.
The State FOP 2005 Super Raffle has been changed: A Lodge must now sell one raffle ticket for each member in order to receive the $10.00 back, per ticket sold. This would mean we have to sell at least 345 tickets and the Lodge would then get back $3450.00. This is a great fundraiser for us! We need every Member to try to buy a ticket and for our Associate Members to step up and buy some also. The Grand Prize is a 2006 Dyno Glide Harley-Davidson Motorcycle or $15,000.00 in cash. This goes along with a 2nd prize of $2,500.00 and a 3rd prize of $1,500.00. Don’t forget there are also730 daily $25.00 prizes and 52 weekly $50.00 prizes. Even if you win your ticket is thrown back into the barrel. You can get tickets from Dennis Tomlian, Keith Ray, Dan Willis and myself. For Members that can’t get to a meeting or see one of us, we can mail tickets to you, just mail a check made out to the Lodge to:

Lodge President David Willis presents Matt Pecha with a 50-cal muzzleloader he won at the June meeting. The money raised was used to help send four members to Washington D.C. for National Law Enforcement Week. Associate Member Chris Sieradzki donated the gun and accessories. |
From the Executive Board
Keith Ray is again heading up our golf outing, states he is still looking for hole sponsors, door prizes, golfers as well as donations to purchase prizes. This is our biggest fun raiser for the year, followed by the Super Raffle. Please step up, it’s your lodge. Keith can be contacted at 586-307-9426 after 2:00 PM or by writing to the lodge. The cut off for hole sponsors is August 4th and August 10th for door prizes. |
Secretary’s Report
By Matt Pecha
My report will be short this newsletter. The Lodge count is at 319 with 281 active members and 38 associate members. We have ordered Lodge shirts in several sizes and colors, which will be available at the July meeting. We were down to our last 10 beer mugs so more have been ordered. |
Treasurer’s Report
By Dennis Tomlian
Well, another conference is over and many things were gone over and I am sure the president & secretary will have information on that. We are now at the end of the fiscal year and July 1st will start a new fiscal year. We are in good shape but are not gaining much ground we need to keep selling the 50/50 tickets. Every member needs to get involved with this, the money we make on 50/50 offsets the many donations we make throughout the year. We are now in possession of the SUPER RAFFLE tickets the grand prize will be a Harley Davidson motorcycle the state lodge will also pay the sales tax for the winner. For our lodge to make money everyone will have to sell or buy at least one ticket. They are $20 each I am sure each member will be able to buy at least one. Our lodge will get $10 back from every ticket sold as long as we sell a minimum of what ever our total membership is. If we don't meet the minimum we will only receive $7. Brothers & Sisters we need everyone to get out and sell these tickets we can really build up our savings for our future goals (so we don't have to look into raising dues). |
Get All that’s Yours!
Most members are aware that there is some monetary benefit with being a member of the FOP, this being the Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. What I’m sure you didn’t know is that due to some recent changes you will not get the full $2000.00 unless a new form is on file with PLEA, the insurance carrier for this benefit. If you wish to receive the full amount entitled to you, you must fill out an insurance form; otherwise the benefit is cut by ½ to just $1,000.00.
There have been some questions as to the eligibility of Associate members in this program. After checking with Art Dickinson of PLEA, I have discovered that Associate members are eligible and have full entitlement to these benefits, as long as there is a form on file with them. |
