******* 2005 DUES ARE NOW DUE ******

Message From The President
By David Willis Jr.

Brother and sisters, we close one chapter and start into another one at our new location. I would like to start off with thanking the American Legion for having us and for the changes they made to accommodate our meetings. The change was not an easy one but it puts us closer to our original plan to be in the Mt Clemens/Clinton Twp area.

With moving, a few things will have to change, as many of you know at the memberships request we started having food at the meeting as well as chips and pretzels. With this, we were asking for a $3.00 donation to help offset the cost. At the meetings in January we will start having a half-barrel, pop as well as the food, chips and pretzels. To help cover the cost we are asking that the donation go to $5.00 to offset the increase. For those of you who like to get an early start someone will be at the hall an hour before the meeting will start.

Keep in mind we are still short on selling the number of $20.00 super raffle tickets needed to get $10.00 back for each ticket from the State Lodge. If you haven’t purchased a ticket please purchase one.

Your 2005 dues are now due, if you haven’t done so please send them in when you can, this will save us postage on sending out reminders in January. Thank you for your prompt response.

Fraternally Yours

The State FOP 2005 Super Raffle has been changed: A Lodge must now sell one raffle ticket for each member in order to receive the $10.00 back, per ticket sold. This would mean we have to sell at least 345 tickets and the Lodge would then get back $3450.00. This is a great fundraiser for us! We need every Member to try to buy a ticket and for our Associate Members to step up and buy some also. The Grand Prize is a 2006 Dyno Glide Harley-Davidson Motorcycle or $15,000.00 in cash. This goes along with a 2nd prize of $2,500.00 and a 3rd prize of $1,500.00. Don’t forget there are also 730 daily $25.00 prizes and 52 weekly $50.00 prizes. Even if you win your ticket is thrown back into the barrel. For Members that can’t get to a meeting or see one of us, we can mail tickets to you, just mail a check made out to the Lodge to:

CENTRAL MACOMB LODGE 187
SUPER RAFFLE
P.O BOX 36
MT CLEMENS, MI 48046

We are currently 35 tickets short of the number needed to get the $10.00 dollars back per ticket. If you are planning to attend the January meeting and have not bought a ticket please do so at the meeting. We are ending the ticket selling at this meeting.

Treasurer’s Report
By Dennis Tomlian

I am honored to be starting my second term as your treasurer. This past year at the direction of the executive board I opened two CDs at $5,000 each, one for six months and one for one year. I also opened a Silver Share Savings Account, which gives us around a half percent or more of interest (depending of the amount on deposit) on our money. Even though we our non-profit and don’t pay taxes we are still required to report our income and expense reports to the IRS. To comply with this I submitted our income and expense reports to Grimson & Assoc who filed the proper forms to the IRS.

We appear to be in good shape, but we still need to watch our expenditures if we ever plan on having our own meeting facility in the near future. I am looking forward in starting a new year in a new facility and I am sure our members will appreciate the extra room and central location of the American Legion on Groesbeck in Mt. Clemens. I am very appreciative of the AMVETS Post 72 in New Haven for their kindness and hospitality over the past two years and wish them all the best in the future.

I want to thank them for the beautiful FOP logo sign that the post commander presented to us and displayed on their building. I thought that would look great on our building when we get one, but alas that will not happen as a member has taken it upon himself to remove the sign from the AMVETS building for his own use, whatever that is. I am very disappointed that a fellow brother would deprive his fellow brother & sisters of Lodge 187 of their rightful property for his own selfish reasons. That sign is not the property of any one individual but belongs to all the members of the lodge and I hope this individual reconsiders and does the right thing.

Secretary’s Report
By Matt Pecha

Happy New Year and "Thanks" again for reelecting me as Secretary. After a year of doing it, I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. Dues are steadily rolling in and so are new member applications. We have added10new regular/retired members since November bringing our total to 297 and we've added new associate members for a total of 44. Almost half of the total membership has paid their dues already. Our dues deadline is January 5th! The "grace period" ends February2nd and after that I'll be slapping you with a $10 late fee. Please pay your dues as soon as possible so I don't have to send out reminder notices - it costs the lodge money and takes away my precious time set aside from memorizing the motor vehicle code.

'See you at The Jet!

**** Help Needed ****

Help save our Golf Outing! We are in need of a sponsor to cover the cost of the door prizes along with other odds and ends. Brother Ray has done a great job with our first two outings but due to the lack of participation in getting donations and gifts, he has been over burdened with the task. Brother Ray will put on the next golf outing only if someone will sponsor it.

This is how it would work: If a member or associate member would cover the cost, the tickets and fliers would say:

Central Macomb Lodge 187
3rd Annual Golf Outing
Sponsored by: your company’s name

So if someone is interested in saving our golf outing speak to a member of the Executive Board A.S.A.P.
